چکیده
Abstract The binder in hot-mix asphalt (HMA) is aged (oxidized) a short-time period during haul-and-queue the field. Since oxidative aging of complex chemical process, it difficult to define as function limited variables. When comparing same types mixes, however, mix temperature ( T ) and time t kept at will be primary source variation affecting levels mix. level not easy estimate without measuring physical property, this study concentrated on developing an quantity (AQ) model for estimating based . loose mixes were artificially short-term various Ts different t; 130, 160, 180 °C 1, 2, 4, 8 h. absolute viscosity (AV) values, which represent recovered after each (SA) normal dense-graded mix, used regression with AQ values computed by model. best-fit was selected trial-and-error iterations between measured AV AQ. then (EAV) asphalts mixes. It found that useful SA-treated EAV showed excellent correlation R 2 > 0.99. Therefore, possible conclude could predict short-term-aged if materials sources limited.

Simulating Laboratory Short Term Aging to Suit Malaysian Field Conditions
This paper characterizes the effects of artificial short term aging in the laboratory on the rheological properties of virgin 80/100 penetration grade asphalt binder. After several years in service, asphalt mixture started to deteriorate due to aging. Aging is a complex physico-chemical phenomenon that influences asphalt binder rheological properties causing a deterioration in asphalt mixture p...
متن کاملAging effects on recycled WMA porous asphalt mixtures
Nowadays, the use of reclaimed asphalt pavements (RAP) is often combined with Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technologies with several benefits in terms of environment, cost and mechanical performance. Concerns still exist related to in-service and aging characteristics of warm recycled mixtures since WMA technologies have been developed over the last decade and hence long term performance data are not...
متن کاملModifications of Internal Molecular Structures of Asphalt Components Due to Physical Aging
The internal structure of a molecule can be presented in terms of intra-molecular (i.e., inter atomic)and inter-molecular energies such as van der Waals, bond and bending, torsion, and inversion energy. In this study, changes in molecular energies of individual asphalt components are evaluated as afunction of physical aging factors. The factors for physical aging such as temperature and pressure...

متن کاملThe Effects of Salt on Rheological Properties of Asphalt after Long-Term Aging
Limited studies in recent years have shown that asphalt pavement subject to seawater in coastal regions or deicing salt in cold regions may be seriously damaged after being soaked in saline water for a long time. However, there is limited research into the influence of salt on rheological properties of asphalt after long-term aging. In this study, rheological properties of unmodified and polyme...
